New York, NY and Tel Aviv, Israel (January 11, 2022) – Ericom Software, a leading provider of Zero Trust cloud cybersecurity solutions and developer of the ZTEdge™ SASE Platform, today announced record sales of its portfolio of Zero Trust security solutions in 2021, with best-ever results delivered across all regions. Strong adoption of the company’s ZTEdge platform, as well as its Zero Trust Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) solution delivered on the Ericom Global Cloud platform, were significant contributors to Ericom’s growth. New customer acquisition, along with expansion of existing customer relationships, exceeded projections, driven by adoption of Zero Trust Security and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions to secure digital transformation initiatives and distributed workforces across all industry sectors and geographies.
“Ericom solutions experienced strong demand throughout the entire year, with record sales results posted in each and every quarter,” said David Canellos, President and CEO. “For the year, our sales and annual recurring revenue (ARR) both grew approximately 50%, and we experienced tremendous growth in the number of customers using Ericom’s isolation-based Zero Trust security products. In fact, the number of new organizations we onboarded to these solutions in 2021 grew more than 5 times the number from the prior year, and the number of users on our global cloud platform grew at a similar pace. Increasing market demand, coupled with the strong value proposition of our Zero Trust security solutions for organizations and partners of all sizes, positions us for even faster growth in 2022.”
In May 2021, Ericom introduced the ZTEdge Zero Trust Security platform, a comprehensive cloud-native SASE solution that reduces cyber-risk, cuts complexity, and improves performance, all at a dramatically lower price point than alternative solutions. ZTEdge includes a broad, flexible set of capabilities that support multiple use cases, including:
In 2021, Ericom also continued to innovate in remote browser isolation (RBI), which Gartner includes as a key Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) capability. In April, the company announced an industry first, its patent-pending Virtual Meeting Isolation solution that brings the security benefits of RBI to web-based virtual meetings including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and similar applications.
Ericom also introduced its Intelligent Isolation solution, which automatically sends websites to an isolated environment for remote rendering when Ericom Threat Intelligence Network data identifies a URL as potentially risky. More recently, Ericom announced Instant Messenger Isolation, a solution that protects organizations from ransomware and malware delivered via encrypted instant messaging web browser clients, such as the WhatsApp Web browser application.
Acting on an important new use case for RBI, this year Ericom worked with a number of production studios and digital graphics firms, such as Jellyfish Pictures and Goodbye Kansas Studios, to support Trusted Partner Network (TPN) initiatives that use RBI to comply with Motion Picture Association (MPA) Best Practices on Content Security. In its most recent update, the MPA recommends Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) as a Best Practice option for securing content from exposure and cyberattack.
Demand for isolation-based web security was strong across all regions, driven by the important role it plays in SASE and Zero Trust security frameworks protecting organizations from zero-day web ransomware and email phishing attacks. Ericom’s multi-tenant cloud solutions are the preferred deployment approach in all regions, with even traditionally on-premises leaning countries like Israel and Japan accelerating their adoption of Ericom’s cloud services.
Ericom continued to expand the Ericom Global Cloud platform in 2021. This platform is a high-availability distributed cloud network deployed across Tier-1 cloud infrastructure partners including global providers like Oracle and AWS and regional providers like Ridge and MedOne. The platform’s IaaS-agnostic architecture allows for higher density, reduced latency, improved redundancy, and low operating cost.
Ericom added new points of presence (PoPs) in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East in 2021. Each PoP location dynamically increases capacity to accommodate changing data traffic needs, ensuring an excellent user experience for organizations leveraging Ericom’s security solutions as part of their SASE or Zero Trust security frameworks. The Ericom Global Cloud is now interconnected across over 100 available PoPs around the world.
In April Ericom announced its technology integration with Palo Alto Networks, which brought Ericom’s award winning cloud RBI solution to Prisma Access and VM-Series NGFW customers. Ericom also continued to work with other cloud security leaders like Forcepoint, Netskope, and Cisco to bring web isolation protection to customers using their secure web gateways.
During 2021, Ericom signed up over a dozen channel partners to bring the ZTEdge platform to market, including entering relationships with two master managed service providers, High Wire Networks and CyFlare, which include ZTEdge in hosted service offerings for customers of their large networks of MSPs. Ericom also signed a partnership with a major global cyber insurance firm, to work with joint customers to reduce organizations’ cyber risk through a combination of security solutions and insurance.
Dr. Chase Cunningham, a well-known and respected thought leader in Zero Trust security, joined Ericom from Forrester, where he was the lead industry analyst covering Zero Trust. In addition to his role as Ericom’s Chief Strategy Officer, Chase also founded and chairs the Ericom Industry Advisory Board, which announced cybersecurity industry veterans Ramy Houssaini, Jerich Beason, Becca Chambers, and Steven Hua as members.
Ericom was recognized with more than twice the number of industry awards in 2021 compared to 2020, including nine Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, two Stevie American Business Awards, four Cyber Defense InfoSec Awards, an SC Awards Europe Excellence Award, and a Fortress Cyber Security Award.
Canellos continued, “2021 has been a banner year for Ericom Software. I am proud of the outstanding accomplishments our team delivered and am excited about the opportunities ahead of us in 2022 as we continue to innovate to keep our customers’ businesses secure, connected and productive in today’s rapidly evolving environment.”
