  13. New Key maps
    For 5250 emulations only.
    normal return = Field Exit
    normal right ctrl = Enter
    shift return = new-line

  14. NumLock button behavior for VT emulations

  12. VT emulation: Backspace Key depending upon its designation, sends either a delete or an actual backspace. By pressing [ctrl][backspace] yields the non designated function of the [backspace] key. For example, if it set to [delete], it will yield a [backspace], vice versa, if it is set to [backspace] it will yield [delete].
  13. DDE Time Out is modifiable. To change the default: Use the new version of PowerTerm and save the setup file. Open the ptdef.pts setup file in Notepad. There is a setting DDE-Timeout = 3. Change the DDE-Timeout from the default (3 seconds) to any number of seconds. * If you write 0, it will use TIMEOUT_ASYNC that is needed for asynchronous transactions. Save the setup file which will apply this newly modified DDE timeout setting.
  14. Linux terminal supported. In Terminal Setup - select VT100 Terminal Type and Linux terminal ID.
  15. In the connect dialog, the appropriate terminal IDs list will be displayed according to the user's choice of terminal type.
  16. CR -> CRLF In slave printing mode: Clicking this option will add a line feed after each single carriage return (one that has no line feed following it).

The Following is a list of improvements and changes to PowerTerm Version 5.5 as of January 2nd, 2000.

  1. Connection to a TN5250 host (AS/400) over a VT100 gateway/firewall now available.
  2. Capability of entering control characters by typing in their ASCII number (less then three digits). In order to do so, hold down the ALT key and enter one or two digits (the ASCII number in decimal representation) using the numeric pad, then release the ALT key.
Example: Hold down ALT key, enter "13" with the numeric pad, then release the ALT key. Result: <CR> character is generated.
This feature is enabled by the script command: "set use-alt-key-up on".
  3. Save-Lock-State in the Genreral section of the setup file.
When set to Off (Default), the caps lock state is global for all sessions / applications (Windows standard).
When set to on this option "remembers" the caps lock state when you return to the session, even if you changed it in any another program or session.
  4. The psl command "set mouse-report on" enables mouse report responses.
Mouse report responses are disabled by default.
  5. Keyboard mapping (key selection by right clicking on it) options has been expanded to: Cut, Copy, Paste, and Enter Command Script.
  6. Keyboard property page has been added.
  7. Now the user can determine (from the Terminal Setup | Keyboard tab) whether the System Wait in the IBM 3270 emulation will act as a System Wait in a non SNA terminal.
  8. CICS Printing is now supported.
  9. Includes all fixes and enhancements since version 5.4.4 was released.

The Following is a list of improvements and changes to PowerTerm Version 5.4 as of June 10, 1999.

  1. Save As Icon supports long file names (including spaces).
  2. Support for 5250 printing: page orientation.

List of improvements and changes to Version 5.2 as of January 1, 1999.

  1. Advanced Printing dialog box has been added. It is accessed through the Terminal Setup menu Printers Property Page: including TN5250 host print transform, specifying the orientation of the printed output for non-graphic printing, setting values for CPI/LPI/FONT parameters, printer rows and columns.
  2. *.PED files include the printer escapes.
  3. For 5250 emulation: double-click left mouse button is equivalent to positioning the cursor where the mouse's pointer is and pressing <ENTER>.
  4. For 5250 emulation: <cursor-home> command added which brings cursor to the first position in the first field on the screen.
  5. PSL script command <system-request> has been modified by adding a trailing dash. PSL script command <system-request-> bypasses the system request dialog box. Syntax: <system-request-X> where X is a parameter. If X is left blank, the system request is sent followed by <ENTER>. Using <system-request> without a trailing dash (-) and parameter produces the same result as the original PSL script command which opens the system request dialog box.
  6. New feature-During a Telnet TCP/IP open session, dialog box opens which enables the user to cancel a connection.
  7. PowerTerm now supports kermit "GET" command.
  8. print32.dll removed since its functionality is now included in the executable.
  9. If message is waiting in AS/400 environment, then "MW" will appear on the 5250 emulation status bar.
  10. Support for Wyse function key label to be displayed on the status line.
  11. PowerTerm now supports multiple file transfer in Zmodem.
  12. PowerTerm now supports Microsoft Intellimouse mouse.
  13. PowerTerm now supports long folder names (that may contain spaces) which can be specified by the user during installation.
  14. PowerTerm now supports the standard Windows 95/NT Add/Remove Program convention via the Control Panel which only removes the latest (of many installed) PowerTerm programs.
