Ericom Software sponsors the iSeries365 online resource centre and exhibition

Ericom Software, the world's 5th largest supplier of host access solutions (source: IDC) today announced sponsorship of the innovative iSeries365 online exhibition and resource centre, for users of IBM's iSeries midrange systems.

Dec 8, 2004, The iSeries midrange system (previously the AS400) is the core of many companies' IT infrastructure, across all market sectors. The iSeries community is one of the most substantial and influential technology groups in the IT industry. However, the community profile is lower than other nascent technologies.

Ian Platt, MD of Ericom Software Europe explains: "Put simply, in the iSeries world there are less scares, less headlines, less noise. iSeries machines just get on with the business. That makes it more difficult for iSeries managers to keep abreast of ways in which they can extend the value from their systems, and increase the return on the substantial investment they have made. The iSeries365 site provides that capability".

The iSeries365 site (www.iseries365.com) site has quickly become a key source of news, information and industry knowledge for iSeries users. With this new sponsorship by Ericom, visitors will be able to evaluate Ericom's solutions for web enablement of legacy applications hosted on iSeries systems, terminal emulation in the 5250 environment, and reuse of data held in legacy applications in other enterprise applications. The site will also carry case studies from major users of the iSeries platform, such as Beacon Insurance and Beall's Dept Stores.

Ian Platt continues: "Many of Ericom's 5 million users worldwide operate on the iSeries platform. We are keen to support the iSeries community and give them ideas and solutions they can take back to their business. For example, how they can transform and modernise the old iSeries-hosted applications into secure, easily accessible systems even for mobile users. Also, how they can ensure reliable connectivity between Linux and Mac systems with their iSeries host. The iSeries365 site is the most appropriate and effective way of reaching and informing this audience. On www.iSeries365.com/stands/ericom we will announce the upcoming launches of new products and publish our industry white papers."

Mark Dye, Group Managing Editor at Penton, publishers of iSeries365, welcomes Ericom's sponsorship: "We look forward to working with Ericom and helping them develop and improve awareness for the iSeries community as a whole. The site provides an effective forum for end-users and companies alike to air their views, discuss products and make purchasing decisions by visiting the virtual stands, so the addition of Ericom will strengthen the proposition as a whole. We already have a strong team of writers known for their informed opinions and analytical skills, and we look forward to the expert-level contributions and insights of Ericom."
