Ericom Incorporates Microsoft's VBA Into PowerTerm® Pro 8.0

Ericom Enhances Their Popular PowerTerm® Pro 8.0 Enterprise Connectivity Software by Incorporating Microsoft's Visual Basic For Applications (VBA)

Hackensack, NJ February 2000 -- Ericom® Software, Inc. a leading developer of enterprise connectivity (terminal emulation) software solutions, introduces version 8.0 of their PowerTerm® Pro product. Answering the growing need for fully customizable software, Ericom Software has incorporated Microsoft's Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in its popular PowerTerm Pro product.

Ericom's PowerTerm Pro 8.0 maximizes enterprise-wide productivity by enabling reliable, easy access to accounting, inventory, management, transaction processing and other mission critical legacy systems. It is the first terminal emulation product that allows for total integration and full customization in the Windows environment while maintaining accurate and effective terminal emulation.

Why VBA
"Our first goal with PowerTerm Pro 8.0 was to make it easier to use and apply. That is why we selected VBA, a development technology that is very well known and used all over the world", stated Eran Heyman, CEO and Founder of Ericom Software. "VBA, enables our customers to quickly and effectively integrate PowerTerm Pro with other VBA enabled programs to create a line of business solutions tailored to their own specific needs", said Heyman.

PowerTerm Pro 8.0 enables users to move data from a terminal–legacy document into a PC-based program such as Word, Excel, Access, WordPerfect 2000, etc. utilizing the powerful Microsoft VBA technology. "In the future, it will be possible to use ODBC and OLE/DB technology to move data from legacy systems in a seamless manner into PC-based applications through a combination of ODBC connectivity and scripting in VBA", stated Ted Gross, CTO of Ericom.

"We are delighted that Ericom Software integrated VBA to bring a high degree of customization and functionality into its enterprise connectivity software solution," said Neil Charney, Microsoft's Group Product Manager for VBA and Microsoft Office Developer. "Ericom Software's customers will undoubtedly benefit from the ability to use VBA to customize their industry-leading terminal emulation application rather than having to build custom solutions from scratch".

PowerTerm Pro 8.0 runs on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000. Hosts supported by PowerTerm Pro 8.0 include IBM Mainframe, IBM AS/400, UNIX, DEC VAX/VMS, SCO and Data General. PowerTerm Pro 8.0 emulates the widest range of terminals. The product's client-server architecture provides unlimited scalability for any size business.
