What Do PowerTerm Terminal Emulators Do?

PowerTerm's Terminal display emulation emulates the display of the chosen host terminal, presenting host applications exactly as they appear on an actual terminal. Once the PC connects to a host computer, you can perform all host operations as if the PC is an actual host terminal.

You can also use PowerTerm's Terminal keyboard emulation to emulate the selected terminal's keyboard by mapping the PC keys to match the host keys. Keyboard mapping definitions are stored in a .PTK file.

PowerTerm includes a powerful built-in programming language, PowerTerm Script Language (PSL), an extension of the industry standard TCL scripting language. PSL enables you to create scripts for automating functions, which can be mapped to clickable macro buttons. For example, you can create a PSL script which logs you in automatically.

PowerTerm also enables you to use the standard Microsoft Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) mechanism to communicate with other Windows applications as a DDE client or DDE server application. You can learn more about Microsoft DDE here.

For larger enterprise deployments, we recommend using PowerTerm WebConnect, which centralizes configuration management and monitoring for easy deployment and maintenance, and contains many of the same features as PowerTerm InterConnect.
